Morning Prayer: Hope Found in the Seasons
The Call to Prayer Trust in God always, my people; pour out your hearts before God our refuge. Psalm 62:8 The Request for Presence It is a good thing to give thanks to YHWH, and to sing praises to your Name, O Most High; to tell of your loving-kindness early in the morning and of your faithfulness in the night season. Psalm 92:1-2 The Greeting In God alone my soul finds rest, for my deliverance comes from God, who alone is my rock, my salvation, my fortress: I will never be s

Praying the Lord's Prayer
“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” - Matthew 6:13 KJV “Do not bring us to the time of trial, but deliver us from evil.” - Matthew 6:13 NRSV My daily prayer during the pandemic has been woven with the Lord’s prayer. It is a simple prayer, but a profound one with many layers of meaning. To deepen my engagement with it, I have started switching between the different versions of the Lord’s prayer. Morning Prayer: On Eagle's Wings
The Call to Prayer I believe that I shall see the goodness of YHWH in the land of the living. Wait for YHWH; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for YHWH! So Much Work to be Done
“Listen here, mortal: God has already made abundantly clear what ‘good’ is, and what YHWH needs from you: simply do justice, love kindness, and humbly walk with your God.” - Micah 6:8 The U.S. election was a nail-biter. But finally, on Saturday, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were declared president- and vice president-elect. I have felt such a huge amount of relief flood through me. It’s as if I can finally exhale a breath I have been holding for four years. In the past, man

Morning Prayer: Sabbath: Rest from Productivity
Photo by marc phillips on Unsplash This morning prayer service can be done individually or in groups in-person or virtually. When done virtually, everyone is muted except the leader so as to prevent distraction from voices talking/singing over each other. Typically, everyone participates in singing the song, the responsive psalm, the Gloria, and the Lord's Prayer; the leader leads the other parts. The Call to Prayer Come, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before YHWH

Praying for the U.S. Election
“Do not put your trust in princes, in mortals in whom there is no help. When their breath departs, they will return to the earth; on that very day their plans perish. Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, who hope is in YHWH their God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry.” - Psalm 146:3-7 Today is the U.S. election. It is a very charged and divi
